In 1958, Bishop Mary Ogez of Mbarara Diocese invited The Grail to work in Mbarara Diocese. The Grail were requested to offer medical services by running a dispensary to relieve the immense health problems. They were also asked to offer Social services to promote the advancement of women in Mbarara Diocese. The Grail Dispensary has evolved since then to its current status as Mushanga Health Unit III offering Medical and Primary Health care Services.
Grail members in this community carry out a number of programmes, particularly in the following:
1. Community Based Health Care ( CBHC)
2. Mushanga Women Association(TURIBAMWE, especially caring for widows)
3. Care for Children infected with HIV, Vulnerable and needy Children
4. Care for People Living with HIV (TUKUNDANE-MUSHANGA, and GIRAMATSIKO-KYANGYENYI)
5. POST-TEST Club
6. Youth and children: peer counselling
7. Holy Childhood Programme
